Grab and Go Meal

During Remote Learning, School District 189 provides free Grab and Go meals Monday-Friday to all students enrolled in the district. We are pleased to have expanded services at all our schools, many community centers and 6 mobile routes to reach all enrolled students. The student or their family member can pick up the free breakfast and lunch meals.
Serving sites include:
CENTERS (serving 10am-Noon - meals provided by bus for pickup)
- Christian Activity Center at 540 North 6th Street
- Sinai Family Life Center at 1200 St Louis Ave
- Mary Brown Center at 606 South 15th Street
- Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House at 1200 North 13th Street
- Deshields Center at 1235 McCasland Avenue
- Griffin Center at 2630 Lincoln
- Forest Village at 4313 Forest Blvd
- Roosevelt center at 1328 North 44th Street
- Orr Weathers Center at 1400 East Broadway
- JJK Center at 101 Jackie Joyner Kersee Circle (currently serving students onsite)

- Avant Elementary
- Bush Elementary

- Mobile routes are provided in areas not close to a school or center.  MEAL DELIVERY ROUTES AS OF AUGUST 17  Please look for a school bus. Vehicles only stay for a few minutes at each stop along the route.

FOOD PROVISION IS AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE. In school year 2020-2021, School District 189 will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. Healthy breakfasts and lunches will be provided each day at no charge for ALL students enrolled.  

Grab and go student meals will be provided during remote learning. In order to limit large groups of people gathering, meals will be delivered in the following method:

  • Meals are provided daily Monday through Friday. 
  • Meals include one day of breakfast and lunch provided in one bag. 
  • Meals are available for pick-up and taken home to eat.
  • Meals are only available from 10:00am - 12:00pm/Noon at all 10 schools and participating centers.

Please be advised that food provided may include peanuts, milk or other ingredients that cause allergies for some people. If you or your child has a food allergy, please notify staff to receive an alternative meal. Exercise caution to ensure safety.
