Mission Statement

The mission of the School District 189 Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Center is to work to ensure that every student is prepared to succeed in life, post-secondary education, and their future careers.

Because parents share the same desires as their children, the FACE Center connects families, schools, and community partners to promote learning and healthy development. Research indicates that when parents are actively engaged in their children's education, whether home or at school, students do better academically. Regardless of socio-economic backgrounds, students with involved parents are more likely to earn high grades and test scores, enroll in higher-level programs, attend school regularly, show improved behavior and develop better social skills (Henderson & Mapp, 2002). Additionally, effective family engagement systems understand that policies and practices are mindful of diverse school communities that are rich in language, culture, and school experiences that support the whole family.

Book Club, Cafe’ Conversations and Coffee.

Join us for casual conversation, laughter, and coffee in a relaxed atmosphere as we discuss a variety of topics through our monthly book selections. Books are provided at no cost and are available while supplies last. Parents & Guardians of any School District 189 student are welcome to attend.

New Students/Centralized Enrollment

Enrollment at the FACE Center will increase our goals of maintaining good communication through updated student information including addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses for access to Skyward Family Access. This also supports a healthy environment by ensuring immunizations, dental exams, vision exams, and physicals are complete and allows us to better support other needs such as ELL/ESL, special education, foster care, and military families.

Transcripts, Records, and Archives Services

The Face Center provides access to historical educational documents as well as assists our students and their families as they continue their careers and postsecondary education.
