    Kindergarten Matters

    Kindergarten matters! Set a strong foundation for your child's learning by enrolling them in Kindergarten! The East St. Louis School District is fully accredited.     Briana Morales from Gordon Bush Alternative School in East St. Louis School District 189 has been named the 2023 Southwest Regional Teacher of the Year by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Out of almost 500 applicants, Briana Morales was selected for this honor because of the positive impact she makes with vulnerable students, her dedication to personalized, competency-based education, her passion for educational research and policy development, as well as her commitment to supporting colleagues and future educators through Affinity Groups and more.

    All You Need to Know About Kindergarten Enrollment

    Enrolling your child for Kindergarten is as Easy as 1-2-3!  Parents of Students entering Kindergarten can pick up enrollment packets at the Family and Community Engagement Center (FACE), Vivian Adams Early Childhood Center or Elementary Schools. Parents will need to complete the enrollment packet and get the required physical examinations and vaccinations. All completed packets, forms, and health records can be returned between 10 am -1 pm to the Family and Community Engagement Center (FACE- 401 Katherine Dunham Place).

    The East St. Louis Senior High School Flyers Boys Basketball Team named IHSA Class 3A Third Place Winners

    The East St. Louis Senior High Schools Flyers Basketball Team won the Super-sectionals on March 6, 2023 in Springfield, Illinois. On Friday, March 10, 2023, the team won Third Place in the IHSA Class 3 A State Tournament.

    The East St. Louis Senior High School Unified Champions Special Olympics Basketball Team played in the 2023 IHSA/Special Olympics Illinois Unified Basketball Tournament on Friday March 10, 2023 at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC 201 E Peabody Dr., Champaign, IL). The East St. Louis Unified Champions Basketball Team won the Second Place Title in the State Tournament!

    COVID Data Dashboard, Weekly COVID Testing and Test To Stay Program

    Check here for the COVID Data Dashboard. School District 189 is participating in the Test to Stay program in partnership with the CDC, IDPH, and East Side Health District. The SHIELD Illinois saliva-based PCR test is also available weekly to test students or staff for COVID to promote a safe learning environment.
