James Avant is located in East St. Louis, Illinois and serves the communities of Washington Park and Caseyville.
We serve a diverse population of students consisting of African Americans, Caucasians and Hispanics, as well as Special Services students in Kindergarten - 5th grade. We are a school that strives to service the whole student’s needs in our care.

Join us Monday, November 18 at 5pm! Parents, guardians and other community stakeholders are invited to attend the quarterly Key Communicator Network (KCN) sessions. These optional meetings are the best opportunity for parents and community members to have an open dialogue with the superintendent and cabinet members regarding questions, concerns or recommendations they have. KCN attendees will also hear updates about what is new with School District 189.

Have you thought about volunteering? Join the Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring Program! The Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring Program is seeking volunteers to serve with 1 elementary student for 1 hour a week. We train you and provide you with supports to be a successful tutor!
