East St. Louis School District 189 Receives Full Accreditation for Five Years! East St. Louis School District 189 has met the strong criteria for educational quality established by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, an independent and international accreditation agency.
Have you thought about volunteering? Join the Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring Program! The Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring Program is seeking volunteers to serve with 1 elementary student for 1 hour a week. We train you and provide you with supports to be a successful tutor!
You don't want to miss the June volume of School District 189's SHINE 189 newsletter! This periodic communications tool is focused on Supporting, Helping, Inspiring, Next-Level Educators. Learn about our amazing Class of 2019 graduates. Collectively, they have earned over $12.7 million in college scholarships. Of the 246 graduates, 7 also earned their associate's degree, 75 earned college credits and 19 earned industry-recognized certifications. This issue also highlights the phenomenal Teacher Residency Program (which has produced 12 outstanding new teachers) and the district's new HiSET program to increase access to high school graduation!
Student academic performance in East St. Louis School District 189 is continuously improving and is near meeting national expectations according to the results of an analysis of five years of Northwest Evaluation Association Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test data.
