Students who require specially designed services are eligible in one of 13 federally designated special education categories.

Services Include:
- Assessments as needed for eligibility determinations
- Special transportation is provided for students who require this to access the educational curriculum
- Vision and hearing screenings for students currently in special education are provided by the special services nurse/technician
- Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) are developed for students requiring specially designed instruction

The Special Services Department receives referrals from Child and Family Connections and other 0-3 year old programs for students who may require special services in the preschool years. Students of school age who may need special services are referred to the Child Study Team at their home school. The department of special services also coordinates services with community mental health, counseling services, and physical health agencies for students with special needs.
